Vanpool Marketing Success

On October 30, 2013, the Vanpool Council of the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT) and the National Center for Transit Research (NCTR) at the University of South Florida (USF) held the “Vanpool Marketing Success” netconference.  This event featured two national experts who offered tips and sage advice on marketing vanpools.  A summary of the presentations, links to the recording and links to copies of the slides are shown below.

Vanpool marketing needs to focus on saving time and money, as well as the convenience and comfort of not having to drive alone in your own car. Successful campaigns recognize that the message matters. Mr. Anderson discussed why the focus should be placed on the ‘value’ received as opposed to just the fare cost in comparison to driving to work alone. Participants heard the about successful vanpool marketing campaigns and what messages work best in various communities.

Big Gains with Small Efforts: 8 Tips for Using Social Media in Your Vanpool Program

Every day, millions of people all over the world log on to Facebook, Twitter,Flickr, Pinterest, YouTube, and other sites. The effective use of social media can increase the number of vanpool customers and help you retain customers you already have. Ms. Newsome provided examples of the opportunity and challenges presented by using social media. She showed how large and small vanpool programs are effectively using social media to attract new customers, retain current customers and enhance their brand.
